About Us A lake with truly great fishing doesn’t get that way by chance. In order to produce a successful fishing environment, a landowner generally must take into account many different factors, including (but not limited to) the following: proper lake design; abundant structure; fertile water; and a balanced fish population. American Fish and Game offers a variety of management plans designed to assist landowners in meeting each of these needs. AFG offers a wide range of products and services, helping landowners to meet their individual needs in order produce the best possible fishing environment. Our team leaders: Mike Gilmore is our head fisheries biologist in the Texas area. He has earned a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Texas A & M University, and has over 15 years experience working with the biology department of Lake Mission Viejo in California and managing private and commercial fisheries in California, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Mike and his team have been featured on Hunting and Fishing Adventures with Keith Warren, and Texas Agriculture magazine and in the Journal of the Texas Trophy Hunter on many occasions. Derek Stratton has been operating the largest private bass fishing club in America since 1999. He has worked with thousands of fishermen and hundreds of landowners in the sport of bass fishing. This has given him unparalleled insight into what it takes to tap the potential of your lake from a sport-fishing perspective. Derek has been featured in most of the major Texas newspapers as well as many state and national publications, such as Field and Stream, Southwest Fly Fishing and In-Fisherman, to name a few. Derek has also co-hosted many state and national fishing shows and is a regular guest on the In-Fisherman television program. Greg Grimes is our head fisheries biologist in Georgia and the Southeast.
