Our partner in the Key West/Lower Keys market is Bryan Yates.

Bryan specializes in shallow water fishing (4” to 4’) for a wide variety of species from Barracuda to Tarpon including Bonefish, Snook, Jacks, Permit and Sharks.

He is especially well known for his fly fishing and fly tying skills and has been featured in Sports Affield and Field & Stream. He is also equally at home using conventional gear.

The barracuda fishing in particular is extremely exciting as you fish for these very aggressive fish in very clear shallow water using top water plugs and poppers. The explosive strikes, subsequent runs and jumps are phenomenal.

All species are stalked and sight casting is the norm. Bryan often runs to the Marquesas Islands, one of the most exotic fishing locations in the world and only a 30-40 minute boat run from the put in.

Bryan runs a 16 foot Dolphin Super Skiff powered by a 90 horse Yamaha. This is world class fishing with a very well known, extremely professional flats guide at a substantial discount.

Bryan is offering members a $50 discount off his normal day rate ($400 reduced to $350 up to two anglers) from October 31st through February 28th. We have also negotiated very competitive discounted rates with several local lodges/hotels.

Bryan can provide most of the tackle and prefers to use flies he has personally tied, especially when pursuing tarpon (up to 200 lbs.) and permit.

For the spring/summer which includes the height of Tarpon season Bryan is normally booked years in advance. He will accommodate AFGC members but may not offer the discounted rates. If you wish to go during these months be sure to call way in advance. Hotel rates are good all year.

Be sure to clean your tackle after each day of saltwater fishing. As always, The American Fish and Game Club asks that you remember to tip your guide. We normally tip 15% at least, but this is a personal decision.
